The Netherlands has gained a new national park: Nieuw Land National Park in Flevoland. Nieuw Land National Park contains the Oostvaardersplassen, the Lepelaarplassen, the Markermeer and the Marker Wadden. All of these areas would never have existed if Flevoland had not been drained, the largest reclamation project in the world. Although people took the step, it was nature that produced the unique landscapes that sometimes do not resemble other parts of the Netherlands. Get on the bike and explore the nature of this new land along this ANWB-route.
