Route description

By car, take the A6 (Amsterdam-Emmeloord), exit 10, towards Lelystad via Larserdreef. Turn left on Torenvalkweg, and follow it to Knardijk. Keep going straight, over the cattle grids, and on the left is the area in which De Krakeend bird-spotting hut is located. The entrance to the area is found about 50m further on the left side (cars can be parked at the visitors’ centre or Kleine Praambult car park). It is very difficult to reach the visitors’ centre by public transport, practically impossible. The closest bus stop is an hour’s walk away. You can rent a bicycle in Lelystad, it takes about half an hour to cycle from the station/centre to the visitors’ centre (follow Buizerdweg/Knardijk).

Opening times

  • All year round. This observation point is difficult to reach for wheelchairs after bad weather because the paths are not paved and can be muddy.
