The maids' route is a project of the Urk Heritage Foundation. It was initiated by Urk historians Arjan Baarssen and Lucia de Vries. They are both descendants of Urk maids.
The maids' route (± 1 km) consists of six info points in Urk's old village. At each point, a story is told. You scan the QR code with your mobile, choose whether you want to listen in English, Dutch or Urkish and then hear the maids' stories.
On the info panels you will find additional supplementary information and for children there are questions to be answered. The starting point of the first info panel with QR code is on the Westhaven. Where the boat used to leave for Enkhuizen (opposite Restaurant De Boet, Wijk 1-61). Using the digital map, continue walking the route to the next info point.
