Lelystad Nature Park was created in 1972 to serve as an outdoor enclosure for Artis' large ungulates. The park had enough space to set up breeding programmes for endangered animals such as wisents, przewalski horses and pater david deer. Many storks can also be seen in and around the Nature Park, also the result of a breeding programme. On the way, we pass the prehistoric settlement ‘Swifterkamp’, where we take a small walk around.
The route starts at the Visitor Centre, which also houses a restaurant.
