Bird paradise

The East Atlantic flyway

What is a walk through nature without birdsong in the background? Or rustling blades of grass in the wind? New Land National Park is a true bird paradise, with the white-tailed eagle as its icon. This eagle, first extinct in the Netherlands, has re-established itself in New Land National Park. Besides this adventurous bird, you will find various species of geese and ducks, birds of prey and migratory birds. Some of which travel thousands of kilometres across the East Atlantic flyway every year. Consider, for example, the particularly colourful kingfisher.

Wetlands

Adventures through marshy nature

New Land National Park consists largely of wetlands. Due to its marshy nature, ecological dynamics and diversity are great. Walk through the Oostvaarderbos in search of the large grazers (Konik horses and Heck cattle), cycle through the rugged reed and wet grasslands in search of the kingfisher or choose the Route Touristique Flevoland, which takes you by car along the various nature reserves. Discover the areas below!

Marker Wadden

Literally wew land

Several islands have been constructed in the Markermeer since 2016 under the name Marker Wadden. And Marker Wadden is not yet finished. With sand, clay and silt from the bottom of the Markermeer, land and shallow water are being created on which and in which plants, birds and fish can live excellently. Meanwhile, there is already plenty for people to experience here. With a natural harbour, walking routes, bird-watching huts and a beach, you can get a breath of fresh air, go for walks and bird watch.
