You’ll find Urk’s tourist transfer stop at Klifkade, close to the village’s old, bustling heart.
There is ample parking space in the adjacent port terrain at Burgemeester Schipperkade.
With over 1000 years of history and the ancient village centre with its traditional green facades, Urk is often referred to as the ‘Pearl of Flevoland’. It is a dynamic and distinctive fishing village, where you can still experience that authentic island feeling and where the distinctive Urk dialect is still widely spoken. It’s a great place to enjoy a stroll through the small streets and old alleys or ‘ginkies’ as they are known locally.
Say ‘Urk’ and you think fish. This is your opportunity to indulge in some delicious smoked eel or one of the other varieties of fish dishes available in the welcoming port.
If you haven’t brought your bike along with you, then head for Bikeshop Urk at Industrierondweg 20, which rents out bikes and e-bikes. The shop is open Monday to Saturday.
