The walking and wheelchair route Reigerpad leads you through the beautiful Kromslootpark in Almere's Stadsbossen. Thanks to the concrete path, this route is also very suitable for people with physical disabilities.
Kromslootpark is a nature reserve between Almere Haven and Almere Poort and has undergone a large-scale refurbishment between 2019 and 2021. The area now characterises itself as a meeting between city dwellers and nature. Kromslootpark is a nature reserve between Almere Haven and Almere Poort and has undergone a large-scale refurbishment between 2019 and 2021. The area now characterises itself as a meeting between city dwellers and nature. The common thread in the Kromslootpark is the Kromme Sloot, which runs through the entire area with winding dikes, surprising views, marsh, reed, forest and special residents such as the beaver, otter, whitethroat lily, tree falcon and bittern.
In the past, the Kromslootprak was hardly accessible and certainly not for visitors with physical disabilities. Now that the Forestry Commission has refurbished the area and restored its natural values, a wheelchair route called the ‘Reigerpad’ has been created near the ‘Bergplaats’ car park, by means of a 2.5-metre-wide concrete path.
Halfway along the route, you pass a viewing screen that gives you an undisturbed view of the Kromme Sloot and its inhabitants. The route is easily accessible all year round, but there may be grazers in your path. Hence, dogs are not allowed here. Follow the blue wheelchair and mobility scooter signs.
