Museum forest path

Discover the seven forest artworks of the Museum Forest on a walk along the foresters' path in Almere. Enjoy the sweeping views from Flevopolder's highest mountain, pick berries in the elder orchard in summer and get lost in the labyrinth.

A forest with a story
Charlotte Almekinders: ‘During the walk along the museum forest path, you will be amazed by the beautiful round beech avenues in the polder forest and walk past seven forest artworks. Get carried away by the different atmospheres and discover the stories behind the artworks.

Stroll past the Linden trees of different ages with bottled mail buried under them, pick berries in the elderberry blossom forest in summer and get lost in the Labyrinth. I always like to pause on Mount Almere Boven. The spiral path winds up to the top of the 30-metre-high mountain. Such a high mountain is unique here, for a moment you forget that this is Flevoland. Once at the top, you have a wide view of the area and see sheep with their lambs grazing on the mountain.

My favourite season to hike here is autumn. During the walk, stop for a moment to look up at the beech trees. The light filtering through the beech trees is beautiful. On the ground, you'll find beechnuts and mushrooms.’

Practical
The starting point of the route is the car park on Meesweg. From the car park, follow the brown posts to walk the 5-kilometre route. You can also download the gpx file of this route.

Leaflets with more information about the artworks are available at outdoor centre Almeerderhout. There are also signs along the route explaining the artworks. The foresters' path runs along semi-paved and unpaved paths. The area is home to many roe deer. Dogs are allowed, but must be kept on a leash.
