The harbour route leads through the Waterloop forest past a large number of hydrological models. From the 1950s to the 1990s, the Waterloopkundig Laboratorium conducted research here on the port of Rotterdam, the Libyan oil port and the Maasvlakte, among others. Hence, you come across many (scale models of) harbours in this special forest. Some have been restored since they are no longer used, others are increasingly blending into their surroundings. An interesting interplay of technology and nature that you won't see anywhere else.
Parking is available in the large car park at the entrance to the Waterloopbos. The walk along several of these harbours is about 3.5 kilometres long. You start at Paviljoen Het ProefLab// and follow the white arrows. On returning to The ProefLab//, you can enjoy your walk and the knowledge gained with a cup of coffee and something tasty.
