How can Flevoland be flat? This route takes you up and down one hill after another. How can Flevoland only have straight roads? This route twists and turns so much that it almost makes you dizzy. Over thirty kilometres of trails await your tyres as you embark on this route through the green lung of Lelystad. Along the way, you’ll conquer a hundred metres of elevation. The course consists of three segments: the Zuigerplasbos in the north, the Gelderse Hout in the south, and the various urban forests in between. The route through the Zuigerplasbos is also signposted separately as a children's trail.
Starting in the Zuigerplasbos is always a good choice. This loop offers everything that makes mountain biking so enjoyable. Climbs, descents, jumps, flowy single tracks, and beautiful nature. The forest surrounds the Zuigerplas, which was created by sand extraction for the construction of the dyke along the IJsselmeer. From time to time, you’ll leave the forest to ride with views of the lake. But there are also more challenging features, such as a north shore and technical gate crossings. Part of this loop has been laid with concrete granulate, making it great to ride all year round.
If you love a challenge, be sure to include the Bergbos. This forest lives up to its name with short climbs, steep descents, and a few technical loops, marked with red arrows. There is continuous effort to keep this route rideable throughout the year. In dry periods, this route is an excellent alternative to those elsewhere in the country, which may become too loose. In very wet conditions, you’ll encounter more muddy sections, and in extreme cases, parts of the route may have to be closed.
