The Bevertrail cycle route is a 42-kilometre route, leading through the agricultural polder country, but also through the landscape of nature and green urban areas. Bring plenty of food and drink and don't forget your binoculars and tyre repair kit! Don't hesitate to have a picnic and enjoy your rest in between.
Meet the beaver, Europe's largest rodent, along the route. As a nocturnal animal, you are unlikely to encounter it during the day, but at dusk, the chances are greater. Look out for the many tracks the beaver leaves behind, such as gnawed-off tree trunks.
Start your adventure at the car park at Buitencentrum Almeerderhout on Stadslandgoed de Kemphaan. From there, drive to Oostvaardersplassen and return to Buitencentrum Almeerderhout for the full experience.
