The route starts from the car park at The Imagination and first takes you past the Kite Monument. Along the way, you'll pass four crash sites.
Crash site 1. Eikenlaan. 21 February 1944 a Flying Fortress crashed into the IJsselmeer. There were thirteen crew members in the plane, the pilot being R.W. Holcombe.
Crash post 2. On the night of 12-13 May 1943, a Short Stirling no crashed into the IJsselmeer. After a successful mission, the seven-man crew with pilot W. Morey was completely surprised by an attack after which it crashed.
Crash post 4. Ox Camp Road. On 20 November 1944, a Mustang crashed into the IJsselmeer. The fighter pilot L.R. Werner collided with another aircraft in a cloud cover. Both aircraft crashed.
Crash post 3. Bearded tit road. 29 September 1943, a Messerschmitt crashed into the IJsselmeer. The crew consisted of two members with the pilot being A. Geiger.
