The Pioneer trail is a long-distance hiking trail in the Netherlands, from Steenwijk to Muiden, with a total length of 200 kilometres. The path is marked with white-red signs in both directions. The Pionee trail offers what its name promises. You walk across Flevoland across the former bottom of the Zuiderzee, which has only been dry for half a century. The trail consists of 11 stages, numbers 7 to 10 running through the area of Zeewolde.
A trip through forests and swamps, interspersed with vistas over endless lowlands. The route follows many unpaved paths along fields, ditches and grass dykes. In the Kop van Overijssel, you can take a break in picturesque Giethoorn. And then continue through the Noordoostpolder and past the Oostvaardersplassen to finally finish at the Muiderslot castle.
