MTB route Braambergen

(7.2 km)

Making altimeters on the former seabed impossible? Thought not. The Almere Braambergen route serves up 378 altimeters, on a lap of only 7.3 kilometres. So the perfect track for climbing and descending in the polder!

The route was plotted by well-known route builder Patrick Jansen. The track circles over the three hills once raised by waste processor Afvalzorg. Rest assured: this landfill is now closed and neatly covered. Sheep graze on it and vines grow - no joke! You get a mixture of flowy uphill and downhill trails in front of your wheels. This route now has national fame, with a top-10 listing in the list of most popular routes in the Netherlands on mtbroutes.nl.

On Vineyard Mountain, climbing past the vines, you imagine yourself in France with a little imagination. From the summit, you have great views of Sheep Mountain, named after the woolly friends who graze on it. But before you get there, you descend down a winding north shore. Differences in altitude have also been made the most of on Sheep Mountain. A trail over the ridge of the hill, takes you to a viewpoint where you can see for kilometres. A touch of Alpine feeling in Flevoland!

Are you comfortable with your technical skills and want to go a step further (or rougher)? Then descend to Forest Mountain. Where the previous two loops were marked blue, you now end up on a red loop with more challenge. It includes a skinny and a north shore. This tough course is perfect to combine with the Almere Kemphaan route right next to it.

A vignette is compulsory for this route. It costs €6.50 per year. The vignettes are available at the Trailcenter, the visitors' centre Almeerderhout, the local VVV and various bike shops in Almere.
