The Horsterwold woods form one of the largest deciduous woodlands in the Netherlands. The rich earth of the former seabed ensures that nature develops with tremendous vitality, which encourages and supports many animal and plant species - some very rare indeed. This cycle route will guide you past some of the most beautiful spots. The Tuurtoren, the tower you can climb, offers panoramic views over the large lake in the Stille Kern area, which translates as ‘silent core’. On the way you will pass through dense woods, along canals and treks, open farmland and small beaches hidden among the reeds. Wonderful places to stop off for a picnic or to enjoy a cooling dip. You’ll also come across beach pavilions and other catering establishments for something refreshing to eat and drink.
