Welcome to stage 9 of the Pionierspad, the long-distance walk that crosses all of Flevoland. Most of this stage you will walk through the Horsterwold, in the Zeewolde region. Along the way, be sure to climb the lookout point on the Horsterberg for a beautiful view of this large deciduous forest.
Flevoland is the youngest province and yet the trees here seem to be centuries old instead of just 50 years old. Western Europe's largest continuous deciduous forest, the Horsterwold, thrives on the clay of the former seabed. Enjoy your walk through this beautiful forest.
