Spend the night at the ZuiderKRIB

Unique, special and a true experience. Those are the keywords of the sleepover on our farm at the bottom of the Zuiderzee. At section no. T121 you will find it all. Whether you opt for the 'on top of the dike' experience or a luxurious stay in one of the lodges. Be welcome on the outskirts of Kraggenburg.

Sleeping on the dyke
You can sleep on the dyke here. Book the tiny house on the dike for a night or a weekend. The tiny house on the dike will tell you the story of this piece of Noordoostpolder through its playful décor. For instance, do you know the meaning of the fisherman's jumper? Or how fierce things could get on the mound of the Lichtwachter? And what exactly was the function of the dams that ran across this field? Curious? Grab your chance and come and sleep on the dike.

Would you also like to wake up with nothing around you? Only with green grass, waving reeds and a view over the water? Then spend two nights in a fully equipped tiny house on the dike. With the added bonus, as is the purpose of tiny houses, a bit of awareness of your surroundings and the luxury we all live in. Where better than amidst the natural elements, at the back of the farmer's field, to experience this?

Waking up as the sun rises or being woken by the birds on the water. Walking along the embankment with your feet in the grass and overlooking a patchwork of shades. Gazing at the stars at night and at the lights across the lake. Strolling along the pier of landscape artwork PIER+HORIZON. Feeling the sun and wind and seeing Genemuiden's church tower in the distance. Would you also like to be inspired by this special place? Then book a weekend sleeping on the dyke.

Sleeping on the dyke offers space for up to 2 people. The tiny house has a dry toilet and shower and has a loft with a double bed and view windows to the outside. There is a small kitchenette with cooker and fridge and you can make a delicious cup of coffee with a percolator. The tiny house is heated with underfloor heating. Your start is right at the parking lot at the farm, from where a 1 km walk will take you to your destination.

Sleeping in the WEI

Spend the night in quiet and green surroundings, look out over the fields or the water, go on an adventure towards the dyke and walk with your feet in the grass and fall asleep in the hammock... Pitch your tent among the fruit trees, park your campervan however you like, go out with the picnic basket or drink tea in the garden, splash in the Zwartemeer lake and cook with fellow campers under the canopy on the open fire. Pick a bouquet in the flower-picking garden. In short: experience, taste and enjoy.

The facilities available for sleeping in the WEI are:

  • hot outdoor shower
  • fire pit
  • toilet
  • adapted toilet
  • 1 large shower
  • washing facility
  • dish washing facility
  • use of shampoo-bath foam-detergent
  • swinging rope and nesting swing for children
  • there are chickens and cats and 1 pony
  • there is a pedal tractor, etc.
  • electricity on payment

Please note: no chemical toilet or grey water dump, the camper spot is closed in wet weather and no dogs allowed on the pitches. Book your spot right away via this link.

Sleeping in the KAPschuur

For a unique polder experience, you can also come and sleep in the KAPschuur, the converted pig barn of Farm De Zuiderkrib. It now contains two lodgings: ‘Ode to the Cow’ & ‘Folklore’, for 6 people in total. Ode to the Cow is a MIFA room, which people with wheelchairs and hoists can use. If care or babysitting needs to be organised, there are facilities for that. The lodge can also be booked as a holiday home.

Rooms can be booked from 1 night and are equipped with TV, wifi and a private bathroom with toilet. You can order a local farmhouse breakfast; it will then be served for you on your lodge's private terrace or in the common room. The living area consists of a lounge and dining room with open-plan kitchen. This is fully equipped, including a fridge, oven, hob with integrated extractor fan and dishwasher. Both rooms can make use of this during the stay.

The covered terrace offers views over the countryside and provides a relaxing moment. Relax on the outdoor furniture or light a fire in the fire pit with marshmallows for the children. The woodshed has its own little garden with a lawn and 2 sitting areas. In the yard, children can play freely in the climbing tree, the swinging rope or slide down the slide. And in summer the gypsy wagon is there for a farmhouse ice cream. And a bottle of home-made apple wine is waiting for you on arrival.

Packages

There are fun Toer de Boer packages for sleeping guests at Zuiderkrib:

  • hire of an E chopper, with scenic route across Old and New Land
  • hire of a canoe to explore the Black Lake.

Sleeping and day guests can enjoy version barista coffee with homemade cake on the terrace of the coffee and tea shop of Zuidpunt T121 every Monday and Thursday afternoon from 12:30 to 16:30. Every first Sunday of the month from April to October, the terrace is also open. On other days, the catering facility is bookable for venue hire or private meetings in combination with a package deal.

Also fun: come pick your own bouquet in the picking garden or hire a well-stocked picnic basket and walk to the dike for a lunch in peace and quiet and with beautiful views.

Picking flowers and berries

Come pick your own gorgeous bouquet in the picking garden. Fun for young and old alike. You choose how many and which flowers to cut. Materials such as scissors and string are available in the garden. However, it is useful to bring your own bucket for transport and freshness. Payment for picked flowers is on a trust basis. There is a price list with QR code hanging in the picking garden.

During the season, you can pick fresh fruit in addition to a picking bouquet. There are signs in the aisles explaining the variety and also whether they can be picked. Picking is by weight and trays are available. The berries are delicious to eat on their own or to use in a cake.

The picking garden is open from June until the end of October from 10.00-18.00. On warm days, the garden is open earlier and longer. Exact opening hours can be found on De Zuiderkrib's Facebook page (see link below). In the picking garden there is a willow hut, where you can sit for a while or where the children can play, nice and cool on a hot day! There is also a picnic table you can use.

Picnic basket

From April to the end of October, you can reserve a picnic basket. The picnic basket uses honest and artisanal products from the region. The picnic basket contains:
- a picnic blanket, plates and cutlery etc.
- savoury tart and sweet tart, tasting menu
- luxury healthy sandwich with old cheese or ham
- coffee or tea
- milk, buttermilk (organic), city lemonade or fruit juice
- fruit of the season
- yoghurt and quark (organic)

The picnic is packed in a handy fruit box and delivered on a trolley for transport to the picking garden or dike. Feast on the contents and return the box and trolley afterwards.

Local produce

In the old cowshed is a cupboard selling local produce that we use for our picnic baskets and breakfasts. You will also find fairly made products from our Leerwerkboerderij Xtrakragt. Do you like these products too? Then take them home with you.

Self-service: Coffee by KEET

Behind the Zwartemeerdijk is the land art art work PIER+HORIZON, where on summer days the Zuiderkrib puts down Coffee from KEET with coffee, cake and cold juice in the picnic basket....a surprise amid the fields.

Resting point

At the Zuiderkrib, you may take a break. Especially for this, there is a gypsy wagon on the road. Artisanal ice cream is also on sale. Cyclists and hikers can also use certain facilities on the farm, such as a tyre repair kit, water, charging station and toilet. This oveigens only during opening hours or attendance.

Parking

Parking in front of the garden is available in the yard No 62 (on the left in the P-spaces) or on the road (in the P-spaces of artwork PIER+HORIZON). The picking garden is accessible via the small bridge from the cycle path to the dyke.
