Only for true adventurers

A stay in this cabin is not a luxury experience. This area requires thorough preparation, the right equipment, and respect for nature, the rules, and other visitors. With these boxes ticked and an adventurous mindset, this will become an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Horsterwold, the largest deciduous forest in the Netherlands.

Cabin on the water

The cabin is located on the edge of the Stille Kern, floating on a small lake. After your walk, you arrive at the water, where a canoe is waiting at the jetty to take you to the cabin. The cabin floats on the water, with your canoe right at the doorstep. This location is therefore not suitable for small children or individuals without strong swimming skills. As in other areas, no dogs are allowed here.

Canoeing

The canoe trip is a short crossing of about 100 meters. Canoeing experience can be helpful but is not strictly necessary. It is important to step in and out carefully to avoid capsizing. From the cabin, you can also take a longer canoe trip (about five hours). Of course, you can also opt for a shorter paddle.

Self-sufficient

Both the cabin and its guests are fully self-sufficient. You find your own route, pack all the necessary items for the canoe trip, and paddle to the cabin. Upon arrival, you prepare the house for your stay: you light the stove and cook your meals. Upon departure, you leave everything clean and tidy for the next visitors. Our management team only visits once a week to replenish supplies and check the systems. In this way, we minimise the impact on the natural environment and together make this unique nature experience possible.
