The Colijn polder pumping station is located at Vossemeerdijk 1 in Ketelhaven and discharges into the Ketelmeer. The pumping station is named after Dr H. Colijn, then Minister of Finance and chairman of the Zuiderzee Council. The pumping station was commissioned in 1956 to drain the Eastern Flevoland polder together with the Lovink and Wortman pumping stations.
The Colijn pumping station consists of three vertical centrifugal pumps. One of the pumps is intended for pumping the high section, the other two pumps pump the low section. The pumps are driven by three three-phase motors.

The brick building has a projecting gable roof and concrete window surrounds. Dirk Roosenburg designed the building in functionalist style. In the facade, above the entrance to the pumping station, you can see a facade relief by Gerard van Remmen. In the wall between the entrance and the machine hall is a façade of ornamental glass. This was made by Johan Dijkstra from Groningen. The depiction represents working people's struggle against water. This is depicted as a water wolf. The main motif is surrounded by characteristic elements of sea and land (fish, birds, weeds, clouds, spraying water and lightning). On the outer wall hangs a four-line poem by Niels Blomberg, the Netherlands' first water poet.
The Colijn pumping station has special significance for the history of drainage in the Netherlands. It is an example of an original electrically driven pumping station with centrifugal pumps with concrete pump housings. Of particular value is the connection between Colijn pumping station and the other pumping stations in Flevoland as part of the reclamation of our polder. The striking location, the ensemble with the adjacent lock and the careful architecture of the pumping station also contribute to this value.
