A little north of the village of Zeewolde lies an island dedicated to water sports, constructed in the form of a tulip. Created in 2014, the island is permanently linked to the shore for easy access and for enjoying the Veluwe Bordering Lakes.

Flevoland is recognised for its land art which includes ‘Sea Level’ in Zeewolde: this land sculpture consists of a long two walls of 200 meters. The top of the walls indicates where the water level would be if the dykes did not exist.

In the middle of the Horsterwold woodlands lies an extensive, open and green valley: the silent core. The footpath in this strikingly beautiful nature reserve leads to an observation tower (Tuurtoren) and a bird hide located on the other side of the lake.

There is a bustling port on the east side near Zeewolde, which boasts several café terraces. The Horsterveer ferry, a bike and foot ferry, leaves from here in the summer months. You can enjoy the pleasant crossing and also shorten the Old and New Land Route this way. 

Both the Horsterwold route and the ‘Oud- en Nieuwland’ route guide you past the Bordering Lakes (Randmeren), where you'll can spot small beaches hidden away among the reeds. Near Zeewolde lies the Woldstrand and the ring-shaped 'Atoll' island which offers a deepened bathing area for a refreshing dive.
